Ok, confession time. When I heard Lakewood Cemetery was the location for Kelly and David’s wedding I was a little nervous, and there may have been visions of the wedding party intermixed between headstones replaying in my head. But let me tell you, the Lakewood Memorial Chapel and surrounding grounds are one of the most beautiful places I’ve discovered here in the Twin Cities. However, the beauty of this chapel was nothing compared to the radiance of Kelly and David’s smiles as one of them would ask the other, “Do you know what today is?” and the other would answer “Our wedding day!” The beauty of the day continued into the service which was a wonderful reminder of God’s plan for marriage, and that despite the beauty of the day-it was just a day. That the colors, the make-up, the hair, the gorgeous surroundings were all just details in a day that began a life together, a life united in a God who designed each detail in loving perfection. A tropical escape…MN style.

I love MN. I do….really. But sometimes, come January, after a month or two of snow, and freezing rain and not being able to just wear one pair of shoes for the day, a girl needs an escape. Unfortunently I’m in that delightful post-college tax bracket that doesn’t allow for a real tropical escape. So what’s a snow-trapped, financially embarrassed, self proclaimed MN girl to do? Head to Como of course! Mom came up for weekend and we promptly headed to Como for some Orchid madness! Here are just a few of my favorites. More can be viewed here.

I got to spend a wonderful afternoon photographing two amazing friends of mine. We traveled all over the Twin Cities and only got to about half of the locations we wanted to. We’re planning on going out again in a couple weeks when the leaves start to change. I’m blessed to have friends that are not only supportive of my love of photography but don’t mind spending an afternoon being subjects as well! Matt and Mindy will be married in a year from today on September 18th, 2010. Congratulations you two and thanks for a great shoot.

Tara and Nick were able to make a quick trip into the cities to visit friends and we were able to connect for some photos. The photos came out great and they were a lot of fun to work with. Not to mention the great job that Nick did considering he’s still wearing a neck brace from the accident a couple months back.
