Fall Wedding | Minneapolis, MN

October 14, 2016 was filled with some of my favorite things: a sparkly pink dress, gelato, pasta, good music, eclectic art, wine, lots of laughter and dancing; and the wedding of two fantastic people. I’m probably bias, because Lauren’s my cousin, but I loved capturing this day. Mostly because at least a third of the images are outtakes of the bride, and I now have an ample supply of photos to share on her birthday each year, but also because it’s incredibly special to be invited into the incredibly intimate, yet oddly public, moment when they commit to loving, and honoring each other and God FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES, in front of everybody. It feels big, every time (no matter how many weddings I see), and beautiful and brave, and you’re all my heroes. Love each other well friends. Thanks for a great day. Also shout out to an awesome wedding party – you guys and gals rock, and great vendors (list below).

Families.

Dear families, I adore you. One of the things that keeps me going as a photographer is getting to experience life with you, and the chance to share your story with the world.  I feel so blessed to be invited in to your homes, to the celebrations of marriages and birthdays, graduations and milestones. I love spending time giggling with your toddlers and playing in yummy twilight light at local parks, or chatting with your seniors about life after High School.  But one of the things I love the most is getting to capture you all together, for a moment in time and see God’s gift of family lived out in so many amazing ways.  Each family has a different story and I am humbled to witness the way God paints his love into the world through each of them.  So to all of you who trust me to be there to share your story, I thank you.  I thank you and I’m asking you today to take a moment and a dollar to help share this love to another family.  Jon and Elsa are starting the adoption process.  To help make this a reality and cover fees that insurance won’t cover they’ve started an Indiegogo campaign called One Dollar, One Hope.  The idea being that instead of a few people giving in big ways, they’re just hoping to share their story and for those people who hear it to help one dollar at a time.  So my friends, before you continue on to see  some of the family highlights below click on the One Dollar, One Hope link above and help connect a family.  If you can’t give please share this or their link so that we can help spread the love. There are eleven days left in the campaign, let’s do what we can to spread their story.

And now, I give you a few of my favorite moments from the past few years (please know for each photo shared there are hundreds more that I adore of each of my families I’ve been blessed to work with):

Mason’s debut | Newborn

Dear friends, I’d like to introduce you to the little man who stole my heart last week, my nephew and Godson, Mason.  Mr. Mason joined our family almost two weeks ago, and I got to go out to Wisconsin and spend a couple days with him and his parents last week.  He’s amazing, smells like baby, loves the sound of my shutter clicking away, and cuddles with his Auntie Megan.  I’m looking forward to many adventures ahead with this guy, favorite books, made-up stories, hikes in the woods to introduce him to Edgar the troll, running around Tom Sawyer’s Island at Disney, and watching his life unfold.  Here are a few previews of our two days together, and the first of many photos in this little guy’s life.  Here’s to exciting adventures ahead Mason, Love, Auntie Megs!

Avery | One Year Old!

I cannot believe a year has passed since I first met this little girl.

Avery newborn 066a

Avery was wonderful in her newborn and 6 month sessions, I knew her one year old session would be great.  This morning Avery was her amazing-self, full of spirit, laughter and smiles (once we got to know each other again).  We had lots of fun running around on the patio and playing in the  balloons her mom and dad blew up for the occasion.  Serious props go to Avery’s amazing mom for thinking of the balloons.  Like always it was a joy to see this little family just having fun and loving each other.  I can’t wait to see all the adventures in store for miss Avery, and her big life! Happy Birthday Avery!

Mother ~ Daughter Day at CSP

Yesterday I was blessed to be able to spend the morning with Concordia students and their moms photographing them as they got ready to kick-off the Mother ~ Daughter Day event.  The event was hosted by Susan Ries, wife to current CSP president Tom Ries.  She worked with an awesome group of Concordia Women to plan and make this dream a reality.  The day included photos, brunch, break-out sessions to local attractions such as the History Center or Como Conservatory as well as a service event option at Mary’s Place.  Here are just a few details from the beautifully decorated room, as well as a couple of highlights from our photo-booth. Thank you for the great morning ladies! More photos will be up on the Facebook page this week.

Most of the beautiful and talented team of Concordia Ladies who made this event happen.

Happy Birthday Liv! A Golden Book Pajama Party

It seems like it was only yesterday I was driving to HCMC to document the first day of Miss Liv’s life.  Being able to walk beside her family has been an incredible blessing this year.  Not only was it great seeing Liv grow but being able to witness this season in the life of her family was incredible. Liv has two awesome parents who love her and her big-brother Reese with an awesome joy and understanding of the blessings they are.

Tonight I was able to spend the evening celebrating Liv, enjoying the beautiful August night, and hanging out with a bunch of adorable toddlers and their parents.

Thank you Heidi and Jonathan for letting me journey with you this year, for all the ways you’ve continued to model not only Christian parenting but living each day as a blessing from God.

Happy Birthday Liv!

Rest.

For many in Saint Paul this weekend marked the first weekend of summer. For those of us who live in the collegiate world summer’s been here for about a month already.  And summer came in with a bang. May was gone in a whirlwind of graduations, confirmation and weddings.  If this weekend’s any indication, June will not sit around and play second fiddle. (Makes one a bit nervous for July and August).  In an effort to remain sane, maintain some sort of balance, and enjoy the beauty of summer myself I’ll be “closed” for the next month.  I’ll be catching up on sessions from May and June and responding to emails as they come in but won’t be doing any new shoots until after July 15th.  If you want to get in for a session in the second half of summer (or in the fall) feel free to shoot me an email at meghuff @ gmail.com and we can schedule that at any time.  So thank you to everyone who has made the first half of summer amazing, and to those of you wanting to get in yet this summer I’ll see you in July or August!

Emily & Tyler {Maple Grove, MN Wedding}

Many words could be used to describe Emily and Tyler’s wedding…beautiful, loving, unique, thoughtful,  but none would do justice to just how amazing their day was.  It was a joy to witness the love shared between Emily and Tyler, not to mention the love their family and friends shared for and with them.  Their ceremony was a beautiful reminder of the grace-filled love given to us through the waters of holy baptism.  Their reception was a fun-filled celebration of their new lives together.

Thank you Emily and Tyler for including me in your day, and being an amazing example of a Christ-centered marriage.

Here are just a couple highlights from this beautiful day:
